More efficient warehouse processes for all product types thanks to expansion of the logistics center

HEINRICH KIPP WERK KG is a quality partner to industry and offers a comprehensive range of more than 36,000 products in the core areas of clamping technology, standard elements and operating parts. The company produces in Germany for the global market and has seven international subsidiaries and 50 agencies.

Intelligent expansion of storage capacities

The go-live at the first multi-user site in Vienna took place on schedule in June 2018. On the challenging path to the goal, Post Systemlogistik worked together with the IT and logistics experts at PureLoX SOLUTIONS GmbH, based near Koblenz, to develop and implement an overall concept that meets the strategic requirements for IT and logistics and can be flexibly expanded in the future.

With PureLoX, premium partner of viastore SOFTWARE, the logistics service provider introduced the globally proven viadat Warehouse Management System (WMS) as the centerpiece. The powerful and intuitive software maps all intralogistics processes, offers more than 2,500 functions as standard and can be easily configured to meet individual customer requirements.

At Post Systemlogistik, the customized system now ensures efficient and reliable processes throughout the entire supply chain. In addition, new clients can be connected in the shortest possible time. In addition to this central solution and the necessary system integration into the existing IT infrastructure, the specialists at PureLoX have extended the viadat WMS with a first software add-on from their own plx.suite. With plx.billing, client billing at Post Systemlogistik is now also fully automated.

New processes in the Warehouse Management System

The experienced specialist PureLoX SOLUTIONS, based in Kobern-Gondorf/Wolken near Koblenz, supported KIPP as a solution partner in the scheduled design and commissioning of the new logistics areas. PureLoX has extensive know-how in automated, digital and manual intralogistics as well as software and application experts who know the viadat WMS down to the smallest detail.

“We had to face several challenges before the clearly scheduled commissioning,” says Julie Ann Heisig, PureLoX project manager, reflecting on the successfully completed overall project at KIPP. “Due to the logistical expansions, it was necessary to integrate new processes into the viadat WMS. These included two-stage putaway, multi-order picking, shelf and area picking within a storage area and two-stage WA transport. In addition, the subsequent processes for the different order types, such as order consolidation, production, assembly and special labeling, had to be taken into account in the workflows. Another requirement was the reliable control and release of picking orders for parallel shelf and area picking.”

Warehouse processes tailored to the entire product range

Jochen Herre, project manager at KIPP and responsible for quality management and CIP coordination, is very satisfied with the results: “We are delighted with the new opportunities that we can take advantage of thanks to the expansion of our logistics center. The processes are now even more efficiently coordinated and aligned with the different stock turnover rates and product sensitivity of our broad product range. In PureLoX SOLUTIONS, we have found a reliable partner who has met our requirements in terms of quality of results and adherence to delivery dates with a high level of commitment. The new partial warehouse for our ‘NOVOnox hygienic’ product family was even able to go into operation a week earlier than planned.”

With the intelligent expansion of the logistics center in Sulz am Neckar, HEINRICH KIPP WERK KG has reached another milestone in the company’s 100-year history.
