Ingram Micro operates a total of twelve logistics centers in Europe. The logistics heart beats in the Straubing logistics center in eastern Bavaria. With a total storage area of 80,000 square meters, it is the largest ICT logistics center in Europe. Customers in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Eastern Europe are supplied from here and 50% of the Group’s European logistics services are provided.
As of 2019, more than 46,000 items are stored in Straubing. Every day, 25,000 orders are processed here and shipped to customers in Central and Eastern Europe. Up to 320 trucks a day are loaded and unloaded at the 98 gates. A highly efficient, ISO-certified warehouse management system forms the basis for high delivery reliability. The globally proven viadat WMS is used as the warehouse management system.
In addition to the state-of-the-art IT equipment, the management in Straubing has introduced the plx.report software add-on. The software solution accesses all system and data sources in use, such as WMS, web store and ERP, evaluates the enormous amount of data completely according to the user’s specifications and displays key performance indicators (KPIs) in real time. This provides operational management with a quick basis for decision-making and enables them to set the course early on to achieve maximum performance in the complex processes and value chains of the logistics center.
Choosing the software solution from PureLoX SOLUTIONS was an easy decision for those responsible. Rupert Hierl, Executive Director Operations at Ingram Micro: “PureLoX SOLUTIONS is a premium partner of viastore SOFTWARE, the manufacturer of our viadat WMS. This and the advantages of the plx.report software, which allows data and information from all systems to be merged, evaluated and individually displayed in real time, were the deciding factors for us.”
On the way to the go-live, the PureLoX SOLUTIONS project team was able to make full use of its experience. Julia Ann Emmel, Logistics Consultant at PureLoX SOLUTIONS and project manager: “We quickly became familiar with Ingram Micro’s IT landscape. The project to introduce the software add-on had to run as smoothly as possible so that normal business operations in the logistics center were not impaired. We succeeded in doing this. In dialog with the project managers on the customer side, we were able to complete all project phases up to commissioning on schedule.”
The software was installed locally on an Ingram Micro server. During the short concept phase, PureLoX set the course for achieving the customer’s objectives. The key users were trained in parallel to the implementation and customizing. In future, users will be able to flexibly control the design and content of their evaluations via a modern multi-dashboard. Any desired information density and depth can be implemented.
The functionality of the software and the innovative support offered by PureLoX convinced the client. Ingram Micro was already able to recognize the potential of the software in a product demo. The advantages are obvious in the tailor-made result. Rupert Hierl: “The entire package, software and services, met our expectations, which were already quite high. The intuitive handling is well received by the users. The flexibility of use on all end devices such as smartphones, tablets or desktops is important for our processes. The role concept also makes it easy for us to make changes independently and assign user rights to other team members. In terms of support, we also like the online ticket system, which helps users with questions and enables quick solutions. We are completely satisfied with the new reporting and monitoring solution at Ingram Micro.”
